General Motors will release more vehicles with diesel engines in US

GM’s vice president Steve Kiefer said at 2014 Management Briefing Seminars that diesel in cars and light trucks is expected to see a growth rate of 10 percent in the United States market by 2020. Chevrolet Cruze, GM’s lone diesel car in North America has met the company’s sales expectation. Recently, the only diesel engine the company offers in the United States is its Duramax V-8 engine and it said that the next generation of diesel engine which is a 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine will come in 2016. Steve Kiefer has not mentioned which cars will be equipped with this diesel engine. The two light-duty versions of GM’s full-sized trucks, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are expected to be powered by this engine.
